The Altavista Area Chamber of Commerce is in the process of dissolving. The Board of Directors voted earlier in December to close the organization after seeing a waning interest in the chamber’s activities and going through unsuccessful efforts to build a board for 2024.
Please keep watch on your email as efforts are being made to provide a membership with our Partner Organizations that can provide your business support. We also suggest that you review the resources section of our webpage to see other organizations offering similar services.
We are currently seeking counsel on this issue. It is our desire that if you renewed your membership in December of 2023 that we will be able to reimburse your membership dues. If you renewed your membership at any other time, it is unclear what we are legally able to do. We will update this as soon as counsel advises.
If you received a renewal bill, please DO NOT pay this and disregard.
At this time, train station rentals are on hold until a partner organization takes over this role. Please check back here for updates as information is made available.
If you have currently have a confirmed/paid train station rental reservation for 2024, this will be honored. Please review the rental bookings calendar and your email confirmation for all details.
The chamber of commerce and any funds associated with it, are governed by its by-laws and state and federal guidelines. With support of counsel, remaining board members are following the legal obligations set forth.
